National Audubon Society – New York City Headquarters

Firm
  • Client National Audubon Society,
  • size 28,000 sqft
  • Year 2008
  • Location New York City, New York, United States,
  • Industry Non-Profit / Government,
  • Autobahns and the Audubon society are basically synonymous in my vocabulary. Synonyms that both stand for conservation. One obviously deals with conservation of speedlimitless driving while the other is concerned with conservation of the earth. Three cheers for homonyms and introductions that are loosely associated with the content.

The National Autobahn Society‘s office is a brilliant space with a ton of beautiful features and furnishings. One of my favorite items is the beautiful wood that is strewn throughout the space. Wood tables, walls, and bookshelves look great against the traditional office textures of carpet and drywall.

Workstations are furnished with Aeron’s, worktables are completed with Eames molded plastic side chairs, and walls are nicely adorned with Audubon Society Magazine covers. The space covers nearly 28,000 square feet and is naturally LEED Platinum certified. Innovative features include: energy efficient systems, under floor air distribution, open space planning to allow daylight penetration to the entire floor, occupancy sensors and controls, the use of recycled and locally produced materials, and high indoor environmental quality.
