  • Global architecture firm Woods Bagot has developed a flexible studio space for their Sydney operations. Because of the demands of modern worklife, the firm has designed the space to be more homelike, warm, and livable than traditional offices.

”Woods Bagot’s global studio is a 24/7 agile team. Given the long but flexible hours of modern day working life, the studio is designed like a home – warm and liveable – aimed at improving the quality of daily life for the team, and at being welcoming for clients and visitors.

Current work practice demands many hours. It was critical to find an indoor environment which interacts with the outdoors. We sought a building that has a superior aspect to a park along the entire length of the fitout.

The studio embodies a continual commentary on design, agile teams, model making and material research, resulting in a dynamic workplace for architectural research. Team zones are flexible and movable to promote collaborative working.

“Display and discuss” is about benchmarking projects against previous legacies, surrounding ourselves with the artefacts that we create and cataloguing ideas in a physical form. In this way, the studio has become an exhibition of sorts, fostering research and development both conceptually and physically, to enable our clients to engage both in the design process and in the materiality of our work.tinual commentary on design, agile teams, model making and material research, resulting in a dynamic workplace for architectural research. Team zones are flexible and movable to promote collaborative working.”
