Vopak’s New Rotterdam Offices
Fokkema & Partners have designed a new Rotterdam-based office space for natural gas and oil company Vopak.
In line with the recent design of Vopak EMEA, Fokkema & Partners designed the offices for Vopak NL. The office is situated in the Westerlaantoren and has stunning views over Rotterdam and its harbour. Like the design of its counterpart, the interior design refers to the core business of the company as an international storage firm, specialized in liquid chemicals and oil. But the offices of Vopak NL have a more local feel, compared to the more globally orientated Vopak EMEA office. The shapes of the reception desk, the coffee points and the main meeting room are references to the large storage tanks in the harbours. Graphics express the identity of the company even more.
A steel open staircase connects the three office floors at its social areas. This area has a cosy atmosphere, due to the use of materials with a warm look and feel. The majority of the workplaces are in open space, with ergonomic desks that can be adjusted to stand up levels. To fulfil the need for enclosed work- and meeting spaces, each floor a zone of rooms at the north side.
