The Internet and all its applications have become part of our senses these days. Many of us feel the need to be online 24 hours a day, to be interconnected with friends, family, colleagues and customers or the world at large. This interconnectivity is fed by the interconnectivity of the networks they are using. This is where AMS-IX comes in. Established in the early 1990s as a not-for-profit organisation, AMS-IX (Amsterdam Internet Exchange) is a neutral and independent Internet Exchange based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

In 2013 AMS-IX decided they needed to relocate in order to accommodate their continuing growth. New Purpose was asked to pitch against four other competitors and was judged to be the best party for the job based on, amongst other things, our design ideas, material and colour suggestions and, last but not least, our vast experience in working according to the wishes and within the budget of our clients.

New Purpose designed the AMS-IX offices in the former building of Hyves HQ, which was also has designed and realized by the New Purpose design team (in 2009).

We created an interior design in line with the clients’ identity as well as the character of the building itself. This resulted in ca. 60 workplaces, 10 meeting rooms and a board room (top floor), realized in a chique design style without going over the top. We like!

Since July 2014 The Next Web (TNW) has joined the Amsterdam Internet Exchange, in the same building (on the second floor).
