Luce Chair by Okamura

The Luce uses the technologies created for the Leopard that provide a perfect fit with your body throughout all postural changes from sitting to standing. Its “smart relaxation” mechanism absorbs most of the impact to your body when you sit down and provides a relaxing softness under you, regardless of your height or weight. This chair is particularly suitable for active work scenarios where you are required to stand up frequently and are rarely seated for a long time.

I’ve never wanted something that is part-anything more than a part-car, part-rocketship until now. The Part easy chair by Modus is elegant, sleek, and beautifully upholstered. The chair would make an excellent employee lounge, or waiting room piece. That is, unless you want to keep it for yourself. Designed by Pearson Lloyd.

Humanscale’s Height Adjustable ‘Float’ Table

Just when you thought that Steelcase and Knoll were the only people doing height-adjustable tables, the people at Humanscale have come out with their Float version. Most tables in this category look fairly similar, but the Float does what the Knoll Interaction table does without the support beam. The Steelcase Airtouch is supported by a single, centered pedestal.

Incase you weren’t sold on standing up or adjusting height, here is a little from the company:

Height-adjustable work surfaces such as Float are greatly beneficial to users’ health, as they encourage a combination of sitting and standing. Research shows that sitting for a prolonged period of time is a public health risk that cannot be offset by exercise, while standing all day is not considered a perfect solution, either, as it can cause discomfort and swelling in the legs and feet.

Schiavello’s Liberty Chair

There is nothing people like more than liberty. There is nothing people like to sit in more than well-crafted chairs.  The Liberty Chair by was designed by Nils Diffrient. Here is the company’s description:

“The Liberty chair is ergonomically designed to accommodate frequent, spontaneous changes of position assumed throughout the working day. It automatically supports the body’s every position without relying on locking mechanisms or manual controls.”

i.box by Schiavello

One of the most common waves in office design these days is to either eliminate walls or make them transparent.  Custom ordering glass walls and having them constructed can be a real pain in the office and budget, but Schiavello has made a product that makes the process simple.

“A 360-degree panoramic glass structure made up of interchangeable panels for easy assembly and disassembly, i.box fosters a transparent and inclusive culture, employed by today’s most progressive organisations.

Designed to optimise functionality and promote information hubs within open plan environments, i.box is completely variable offering countless configuration possibilities, i.box’s practicality is further enhanced with optional shelving, power ducts, whiteboards and other accessories.”

Climate Desk System by Schiavello

Schiavello, an Australian furniture company has a new line of easily transformable desking called climate. The line contains everything from tables and privacy barriers to connecting devices and wire organizers.

“Climate is the most malleable work environment tool created and the first developed totally from the user perspective. It is conceived in three layers – ME, the individual worker; US, the collaborative teams that increasingly deliver success for any organisation; and WE, the organisation in its totality.”

Some of the most interesting parts are the small design features that were created.  Designer privacy barriers give a much more fun feel to a space, while a table leg with a hook is a functional way to store a bag.

“It is the world’s first malleable workstation which means you can push, pull, expand, contract and personalise your space when you want to according to your work task, your work style and even your mood. We have collaborated with Australian fashion designers, architects, a colour textile master and also an environmental psychologist to create a range of products that push the boundaries of design in the workplace where a workstation is used as a tool to help you work more effectively.”
