dpdk – Rotterdam Offices
Dpdk is a creative digital agency creating cutting edge in digital out of a historical building in Rotterdam’s old shipping quarter.
Since 2010 dpdk has been based in this location, but growth and innovation demanded a big renovation. Expanding from 3 levels to 5, dpdk offices now occupy the complete 1930’s building.
During previous rebuilds and alterations many of the building’s original features such as the high ceilings, stained glass and a unique light well had been tucked away. All of these features were brought back and combined with modern additions such as a break through down the 1st floor, creating a broad staircase transition to ground level at the back of the building. This lets light from the light well pour into both floors.
Every studio space has it’s own custom designed wall and cork lining functioning as a huge pin-up board. Desks are positioned central to encourage collaboration and inspiring one another.
Multiple informal meeting spaces were created in different styles. The largest one being the lunch & coffee area, inspired by the feel of our favorite coffee bars.
To give the office a Rotterdam fingerprint, details of Rotterdam’s heritage were added such as a custom reception desk boasting old ‘Rotterdam design’ tiles. These 17th century tiles got brought back to life by digitizing the original designs and screen-printing them on brand new tiles.
