ThirdWay Interiors was tasked with designing The Trampery’s new flagship space, based in the creative hub of Shoreditch. There were a lot of boxes to tick: a large open plan area for start-ups, two self-contained spaces for partner companies, meeting rooms, kitchen facilities, an event space for up to 250 people and a members’ club. The 10,000 square foot space had to suit the diverse needs of a wide range of tenants, fostering creativity and collaboration for companies big and small.

When it came to the design, versatility was key. ThirdWay Interiors worked closely with The Trampery to imagine multiple work spaces with varied uses. The main open plan layout provides a bright and airy environment for 50 desks. Further open plan spaces for hot desking facilitate interactions between users, crucial for the sorts of creative businesses that The Trampery attracts.

Such was the scale of ThirdWay’s plans to open up the space that only one third of the building’s original interior walls were retained within the new design. A fully equipped kitchen, private dining room, range of meeting rooms and an art gallery compliment the open plan workspaces, while at the rear of the building a grand ballroom of an event space can welcome up to 250 people.

As well as reflecting the values of The Trampery and its unique mix of users, the interior also had to be in keeping with the bricks and mortar of the place. ThirdWay Interiors sourced bespoke products for use throughout the building, from 1970s wallpapers for the meeting rooms to the Bad Marriage art installation in the ballroom.
