Sumo Offices – Austin
Runa Workshop designed the new offices of web development company Sumo located in Austin, Texas.
Nestled on the first floor of a mixed-use development in East Austin, a neighborhood that is popular for tech offices and startups, lives a company dedicated to helping businesses grow their websites. Our client, Sumo, hired Runa Workshop to create a space that would align with their brand and inspire their team. Our design fosters the four aspects of Sumo culture: Collaboration, Community, Colorfulness and Character.
Borrowing from the concept of “apps and website integration”, we generated a framework where programmatic elements are being plugged in as components. A feature ceiling element, the framework, runs east and west hosting most of the program elements. Voids reveal the structure behind as a metaphor for website and app analytics. The ceiling element frames the open office area which has been oriented to optimize views and daylight.
The result is an active and engaging environment that stimulates the culture Sumo embodies.
