    In great company
Working in close collaboration, design firms Revel Architecture & Design, a global leader in workplace design headquartered in San Francisco, California, and Ostraca, a Bangalore based firm with over 20 million sq ft of office design completed, teamed up with Informatica’s Global Real Estate & Workplace team to design, develop and deliver office space that is representative of Informatica’s culture, values & vibrance, while also bringing in elements from India’s diversity and cultural richness.

With extensive experience in workplace design strategy and years of partnering with Informatica on projects around the world, Revel Architecture & Design lead these projects through space planning and provided high-level input on the design esthetic and functional requirements. From there, the Ostraca team built on the design by incorporating aspects of local culture, building requirements and construction to develop Revel’s initial concepts into a vibrant workplace with a look and feel that is distinctly “Informatica”.

    Details Fine-tuned
The designs of nearly 75,000 sq ft of office space were created to address the varied needs of the diverse users within the India office locations with an emphasis on opportunities for collaboration and multiple options to untether from workstations and choose where to get work done. This approach helped inform the distribution of amenities, workrooms, team rooms, hoteling space and lounges.

Special attention was given to acoustics which were seamlessly integrated into the design language to create Jaali screens, cloud ceilings, and wall coverings made with sound-absorbing materials. A carefully curated color palette helped activate each neighborhood as well as define wayfinding for the office employees.

    Futureproofing our workplace
Faced with the initial challenges induced by COVID-19, the design team made a swift and seamless transition to virtual collaboration, and designs rolled forward into construction, without missing a beat. The timing provided opportunities to adjust for safety while simultaneously delivering an office space that would suit the client’s needs well past the end of the pandemic enabling both remote and onsite workforce needs.

Following Informatica’s Global Design Standards established by Revel, the final design for these offices utilize a “neighborhooding” approach that breaks the typical open office into smaller neighborhoods equipped with spaces for quick team meetings, huddle rooms for collaboration, and small conference rooms. This method was immediately put to the test as the global pandemic altered the way we work for companies worldwide. The team quickly adapted and made minor adjustments like unassigned seating and limiting the capacity of small rooms and flex work areas to ensure a safe working environment aligned with the local regulations for safety during COVID.

These brand-new Informatica space expansion projects are a great example of successful creative collaboration outcomes between two design firms grounded in different locations and cultures. It has brought to life innovative workplace designs that will help Informatica continue to deliver Cloud Data Innovation powering the world’s most innovative companies.
