Squelette Design transformed an 800-square-foot space in Ahmedabad into a dynamic office for Stuti Impex celebrating creativity and innovation with curved elements, unique terrazzo flooring, and personalized bearings-inspired design.
Nestled within the confines of an 800-square-foot space, this interior project is a testament to creativity and innovation in design. Situated in a straight narrow grid rectangular space with monotonous features, the challenge was to transform it into a captivating and opulent environment that celebrated its beautiful view of the riverfront of Ahmedabad city.
The first step in the design process was to ideate the layout, with the MD space strategically positioned towards the extreme end to maximize the breathtaking riverfront view. Before reaching the MD space, a seamless progression of spaces was crafted, including waiting areas, employee zones, manager cabins, and small discussion areas. This gradation of spaces ensured a smooth flow and effortless transition throughout the office.
The company’s business of providing bearings to machines served as the inspiration for the overall concept of the interior. The goal was to break away from linearity and introduce elements that added interest and opulence to the smaller grid space. Neutral terrazzo flooring was chosen to create a seamless and earthy backdrop, while unique curves were introduced to add fluidity and dynamism to the design.
These curves manifested in various design elements, from the flooring to the customized ceiling lights, creating a sense of movement and rhythm throughout the space. Partitions with concealed doors, adorned in curved panels of wood and glass, further enhanced the overall aesthetic while maintaining functionality and privacy.
The curves were not merely decorative; they also served as subconscious guiding factors, leading occupants through the space with ease and grace. Additionally, bearings replicated in different shades of terrazzo on the floor added a unique pattern and texture, tying back to the company’s core business.
The highlight of the interior is the MD cabin, designed with a neutral palette that harmonizes with the overall aesthetics of the space. Bold accent walls adorned with actual bearings of various sizes inject a sense of personality and uniqueness into the room, transforming them into large-scale wall art pieces. Careful consideration was given to the placement of these bearings to ensure they not only served as decorative elements but also conveyed the company’s identity and values.
