  • In 2025, SBE_SPACEBASE undertook the first headquarters interior project for Realworld, a robotics company developing intelligent technologies applicable to real-world industries and society at large. The project aimed to effectively express the identity of a forward-looking tech company through spatial design, while also realizing SBE’s core value of creating environments that offer comfort to users who spend extended hours within them.

Spaces designed with futuristic branding elements are often rendered with cold and impersonal atmospheres. However, office environments—where people spend long periods and experience ongoing work-related stress—require a more delicate balance. It was essential to ensure that the space did not feel overly rigid or emotionally distant. As such, a carefully considered design approach was taken to harmonize functionality with warmth, and spatial density with openness.

The concept was grounded in the idea of a “future-oriented plant.” To reflect the precision and efficiency inherent in industrial technology, custom furniture and fixtures were fabricated using structural aluminum profiles, while layered linear ceiling lighting emphasized a sense of architectural rhythm and order throughout the space.

Material finishes were selected with this concept in mind. Special coatings containing fine sand particles and highly textured art paint were applied to introduce warmth and tactility into the otherwise mechanical framework. These finishes softened the space’s industrial edges, contributing to a more emotionally balanced environment and supporting the users’ psychological comfort.

The site itself featured a sunken courtyard, which was incorporated into the design as a central circulation axis. Surrounding this courtyard, the main corridor was arranged to allow natural light to penetrate deep into the workspace. This not only enhanced the sense of connection with the outside but also strategically mitigated the typical disadvantages of below-ground areas.

Realworld’s new headquarters represents a thoughtful attempt to strike a balance between technological precision and human-centered comfort. Through this project, SBE sought to demonstrate how a workspace can evolve beyond functionality to reflect a company’s vision and the way its people work.
