Clark Nuber Offices – Bellevue
CollinsWoerman’s design for the Clark Nuber Offices in Bellevue, WA, masterfully blends openness with privacy, resulting in a dynamic workplace that fosters collaboration and individual focus while embodying the firm’s culture and commitment to employee well-being.
CollinsWoerman partnered with accounting firm Clark Nuber to evaluate multiple workplace scenarios before designing their new 37,656 office across levels 7 and 8 of City Center Plaza in Bellevue, Washington. The project supported Clark Nuber’s move from a previous location into a new workplace designed around their people, culture, and evolving ways of working.
The process began with CollinsWoerman’s Culture Discovery Process, which included employee surveys and workplace strategy sessions to get to know Clark Nuber’s goals and needs for their updated space. The process revealed a highly engaged culture with strong social connection and collaboration across teams, while also highlighting meaningful variation in how individuals worked best.
These insights shaped a workplace strategy that balanced openness with separation, collaboration with focus, and flexibility with functional support. Rather than relying on a single workplace model, the design created a range of settings — full workstations, team areas, touchdown spaces, private offices, phone rooms, wellness rooms, and shared amenities — allowing different needs to be supported without fragmenting the culture Clark Nuber values.
Two planning approaches emerged: “neighborhoods,” which grouped smaller work areas with nearby support spaces, and “nodes,” which created larger, centralized gathering hubs across the floor plate. Rather than selecting one over the other, the team combined the strengths of both strategies to create a workplace that provided spaces for focused work while making collaboration and connection feel natural. The result was an open, welcoming environment with varying levels of privacy, allowing employees to choose the setting that best supports how they work.
Equity and well-being became fundamental planning drivers. Private offices were relocated away from the perimeter to democratize access to daylight and views. Wellness rooms, flexible workspaces, collaboration areas, phone rooms, and informal gathering spaces were designed to promote comfort and inclusion. A welcoming reception connected by an internal stair, a spacious café and lounge, and a refined palette of warm, sophisticated finishes reinforce Clark Nuber’s brand identity while creating an environment that feels both professional and inviting.
The completed workplace reflects Clark Nuber’s commitment to its people by balancing flexibility, equity, health, and performance within a timeless, adaptable environment. More than an office, it is a destination that strengthens culture, supports employee well-being, attracts top talent, and is designed to evolve alongside the organization for years to come.
