Box – Los Altos Offices
FENNIE + MEHL Architects designed the offices of cloud-storage company Box back in 2012. We recently checked out their San Francisco Offices.
Box, which creates cloud-based storage for Fortune 1000 companies, was bursting out of its 27,000-square-foot start-up space in Palo Alto. The place was so jam packed with people and activity that, on his first visit, Ned Fennie was nearly run down outside a conference room by a careering scooter. For Box’s new 100,000-square-foot-space, Operations VP Greg Strickland explained that the space had to serve as a recruiting tool for hotly courted tech talent. His simple directive: “It’s your job not to lose the buzz.”
F+M blew out floors and walls and created a space that was positively humming. Rambunctious, fun, youthful—yes, that is a two-story slide connecting the first two floors—the Box space was so successful the company outgrew the space within 18 months.
“F+M didn’t just preserve the buzz,” says Strickland, “they amped it up.”
