Inside Microsoft’s New Madrid Office / 3g office
3g office has completed a new office design for global software company Microsoft located in Madrid, Spain.
The flexible working forms and optimizing the use of space have been the keys for Microsoft to manage making from their new headquarters a different space and to create a new client area without increasing the space leased.
The reform of the Microsoft headquarters in Madrid, located in La Finca, began in 2013. Flexible work forms were implanted to a population of 720 professionals. The new system frees up 3,000 of the 9,000 m2 that had been occupied by the company for 10 years.
The the Microsoft company has been implementing flexible forms of work by Workplace Advantage program for more than five years and, even better, the protocol of the company states that all headquarters reform must shift towards this model of unallocated space. For this it makes available to its employees staff management and technology tools that enable them to work wherever and whenever they want with clear rules for evaluating performance and fulfilment of the objectives.
The savings in space meant reducing the area dedicated to traditional workplaces permitting putting up a new client area. The ground floor would be designed to promote the Microsoft products through the experience transferred by technology and the characteristics of the space.
The challenge for 3g office was to create a space that would invite to return to it, and that the company headquarters remained the favourite meeting place. For this, around two thirds of the surface of the work zones is intended for collaborative spaces of all kinds. Flexible forms of work permit to work from, where and when the worker wants, also within the office.
