SK Telecom is Korea’s largest telecommunications company, with an increasing presence in the USA. Creating the new Silicon Valley Headquarters for SK Telecom Americas involved balancing the needs of a wide range of business functions to create a strongly branded space that functioned effectively for all its users.

The “front of house” is an Executive Briefing Center with boardroom, training room, conference rooms, phone rooms, and a large events area, directly accessible from reception. The most distinctive feature of the space is the wood paneling, which is installed with crisp reveals at the panel edges, and stainless steel exposed fasteners, to create a sense of its construction, while still delivering an elegant and warm contrast to the otherwise cool and neutral colors.

The second major function of the space is the Innopartners Accelerator, which houses core technology startups in a series of semi-private spaces, connected by shared circulation and collaborative space. In this area the finishes lean towards raw polished concrete and open ceilings, but continue the wood finish to tie the spaces together.

The third function is the headquarters office, which is separated from the other more public functions. This space contains its own coffee bar and conference rooms, with the majority of the space given over to the open office environment.
