DOW Electronics Offices – Tampa
Gresham Smith have designed the new offices of electronics distribution company DOW Electronics, located in Tampa, Florida.
For the 12,760-square-foot DOW Electronics corporate office renovation near Tampa, Fla., GS&P was tasked with fitting 66 employee workstations, two training rooms, multiple open and closed collaborative meeting areas, two conference rooms and an updated lobby and dining center within the space. The new environment creates an inspiring aesthetic that reflects the energy and enthusiasm of the company and its employees. The office remained fully functional while undergoing renovations in two phases. Total design and phased construction was completed in 15 months.
DOW’s building created a unique challenge for the design team, who created a strategy to invite light and energy inside while still adhering to the hurricane-hardened standards that allowed zero windows in the space. To foster a sense of openness, the use of finish materials creates a clear path of travel around and through the work area, as warm wood tones combine with cutting-edge colors and graphics.
The lobby presents a first and lasting impression for the vibrant, technology-savvy corporation. The combination of clean white finishes with pops of red and warm tile creates a welcoming environment, and the well-lit check-in kiosk provides an easy way for guests to notify staff of their arrival. Strategically arranged workstations allow for concentrated work and collaboration among both executives and employees, with ample storage and intentionally placed furniture for break-out conversations. Various-sized meeting rooms encourage discussions and work engagements serving different purposes, from one-on-one interfacing to video conferencing to board meetings.
