Wink Offices – Manhattan
Lee Chan has designed the new offices of smart home company Wink, located in New York City, New York.
Located in West Chelsea’s historic Terminal Warehouse building (previous home of the infamous Tunnel nightclub), smart home platform Wink’s new, post-industrial headquarters houses its growing business, engineering, and design teams.
When Wink launched in 2014, it established roots in a tiny (now leveled) garage in the heart of SoHo. A New York interpretation of the classic Silicon Valley startup origin story. It was tiny, the heating didn’t work, and there was only one bathroom for over 40 people.
At 14,500 square feet, Wink’s new home is designed to accommodate plans to grow its New York presence over 50% in the next few months. Within is a mock home (complete with a full kitchen, dining room, and living area) that was created to showcase the many different connected products that work with Wink. A dedicated QA lab contains 3D printers that are used to quickly build test fixtures, real windows/doors/garage doors for the testing of locks and sensors, and a ton of networking equipment for automated testing to ensure Wink smart homes perform under all conditions.
