Kimball’s Park Avenue Showroom – New York City
Studio O+A designed the Park Avenue showroom for furniture company Kimball, located in New York City, New York.
Kimball Park Avenue is an urban design hub that redefines the product experience and provides a lab that encourages exploration and creativity. Like a theatre company that transforms bare stage into fabricated realities, the Kimball Park Avenue showroom provides an ever-shifting mise-en-scène. It is an urban arena for the workplace to act as a stage.
Visiting designers – whether from around the country or the globe – are encouraged to use Kimball Office as their staging area. In fact, visitors have the opportunity to define the space as if it is their own. For every designer it becomes an individual design sanctuary, a think-tank for ideas to percolate, and come to life or simply a backdrop for presentation. To that end its design draws on a combination of technology, stagecraft and the energy of the street to create a living rehearsal space for a panorama of talent.
No longer merely a showcase for product, Kimball Park Avenue is a lab for exploring new ways of working, testing new theories of collaboration and creativity, debuting new forms and launching new directions in design. The showroom is a landscape of a variety of working typologies including individual work areas, collaborative areas, material libraries, social hubs and quiet thinking shelters
