When fintech leader Money Forward decided to establish its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai, the vision was bold. The company did not see India as a low-cost extension. It saw it as a core hub of innovation. The ambition was to create a workplace that could attract world-class talent, accelerate product development, and make innovation not just a value but a lived experience.

The first office, however, fell short. It was functional but uninspiring, offering little energy, identity, or cultural resonance. The challenge became clear: how do you design a space that feels like the beating heart of innovation rather than a distant outpost?

The design journey began with deep listening. Teams wanted flexibility to collaborate, spaces for quiet concentration, and a workplace that reflected their purpose. This translated into a dual-mode environment with open zones buzzing with energy for collaboration, paired with focused areas for deep problem-solving.

The materials and palette told a story of identity. Raw timber met vibrant accents, symbolizing the blend of Japanese tradition, forward-looking ambition, and Indian cultural vibrancy. Modular systems and sustainable finishes provided the office with the agility to grow, while smart lighting and acoustic solutions ensured comfort and optimal performance.

When the doors opened, the transformation was evident. The Chennai office no longer felt like a branch. It became a value center, aligned with the company’s mission. Employees now experience innovation daily, with pride and a sense of belonging woven into every detail of their workplace.
