Abel Design Group transformed the Musket Corporation offices in Houston, blending bold architectural moves with cultural storytelling to create a dynamic, adaptable workplace that honors the client’s identity.

Firm
  • Client Musket Corporation,
  • size 45,000 sqft
  • Year 2023
  • Location Houston, Texas, United States,
  • Industry Energy / Mining / Oil,
  • In this transformative corporate interiors project, Abel Design Group redefined Musket’s workplace by balancing architectural precision with bold storytelling. At the heart of the design is a newly installed winding staircase, positioned directly beneath the original. Preserving the building’s structural integrity while introducing a second stair required careful coordination, but the result amplifies the atrium’s vertical drama. Above, a cluster of cascading jellyfish light fixtures fills the three-story space with an ethereal glow, creating a striking focal point.

The client envisioned a hospitality-forward break room capable of hosting large LNG events, and the result is a dynamic environment that merges flexibility with atmosphere. A speakeasy-inspired bar incorporates raw concrete and industrial metal accents, while a sinuous banquette curves along the perimeter windows, guiding the eye to panoramic downtown views. A vapor-based fireplace, framed by suspended metal chains, anchors the lounge and visually connects it to the galley kitchen. For event adaptability, a mobile bar was introduced to easily accommodate catering needs. Overhead, a custom ceiling installation shimmers like natural gas in motion, tying the space to the company’s industry.

The boardroom design offers flexibility with mobile stone training tables and a high-contrast palette that sets the stage for the client’s art collection. Heritage is woven into the design through a glass-encased, backlit musket, honoring the company’s namesake. In the open office areas, ADG introduced custom color-branded graphics for each division of Love’s trucking, inspired by the smoke of a musket in motion.

Back-of-house areas align with the previously built workspace, featuring stark black-and-white accents for continuity. Collectively, the design delivers a space that is adaptable, atmospheric, and deeply rooted in the company’s identity, blending dramatic architectural moves with cultural storytelling.
