When Space Becomes a Story
For over 150 years, Kohler has stood for design innovation, artistry, and craft. When the company set out to create its new India headquarters in Gurgaon, the leadership team asked one powerful question: How can this space tell our story before anyone even says a word?
The vision was clear. This was never meant to be just an office. It had to be an experience. A workplace that embodied the spirit of Kohler, from its handcrafted roots to its forward-looking innovation. A space that didn’t simply house the brand, but expressed it in every detail.
Space Matrix responded with a design philosophy rooted in storytelling. Every corner of the headquarters became a chapter in the Kohler narrative, where materials, form, light, and art came together to speak fluently in the brand’s language.
The arrival sets the stage. A legacy wall winds through 150 years of Kohler history, showcasing products, innovations, and milestones. A pebble trail, a subtle nod to craft and nature, guides visitors to a floating glass meeting room suspended like an idea taking shape. This is not a reception. It is a revelation.
Workspaces reflect the brand’s philosophy of inclusion and connection. Natural light floods the interiors, biophilic design softens the environment, and curated textures inspire creativity. The design ethos of bold materials and user-centric thinking becomes a lived experience for every employee.
Meeting rooms are themed as Legacy, Innovation, and Craft. Each space is immersive, telling a chapter of Kohler’s story. One of the most memorable details is a tribute to the company’s early days: a bathtub once traded for livestock, now reimagined as a sculptural wall installation, reminding teams of humble beginnings and bold journeys.
Even the smallest details carry meaning. Washrooms are transformed into artistic spaces with Michelangelo mosaics and heritage palettes. The Work Café becomes a tactile tribute to clay, stone, and metal, the raw materials that shaped the brand. No surface is silent. Every element echoes Kohler’s identity.
Inclusivity and sustainability are woven throughout. Neurodiverse work points ensure comfort for all, while the Waste Lab showcases design using repurposed materials. The workplace does not just honor the brand’s legacy. It updates it for the future.
