Snap Inc. Offices – Austin
IA Interior Architects designed the Snap Inc. offices in Austin to seamlessly blend augmented reality concepts with intuitive spaces, reflecting both local culture and the dynamic needs of its creative workforce.
Designed by IA, Snap Inc.’s Austin office is shaped by the idea of an optimized perspective, bringing augmented reality (AR) to life in a physical space. Every design decision enhances how employees move through and interact with their environment, creating a workplace that is both intuitive and immersive.
At the heart of the design is a grid system that organizes the space, much like the structure behind AR technology. As employees move through the office, these grids become more defined, symbolizing how Snap’s technology refines the way people view the world. To create a seamless experience, rounded edges soften transitions, adding a layer of refinement that makes movement through the office feel natural and fluid.
While the design is unmistakably Snap, it also reflects Austin’s energy and character. A sun-bleached palette of oranges, tans, and warm tones pulls inspiration from the city’s natural landscape, while purposeful pops of yellow and textured materials inject creativity and warmth into the space. This mix of bold yet earthy elements balance the global Snap identity with Austin’s own brand of creativity—innovative, expressive, and a little bit unconventional.
The office is designed to support a range of work styles, making it easy for employees to move between collaborative areas, quiet zones, and places to recharge. The reception and elevator lobby set the tone with a mix of environmental graphics and contrasting materials, creating a strong first impression. The micro kitchen and all-hands area serve as the heart of the office, designed for both spontaneous conversations and larger team gatherings.
Meeting suites, focus areas, and quiet zones woven throughout give employees the flexibility to work in the way that suits them best. Whether it’s a large conference room for team discussions, a casual meeting nook for quick check-ins, or a private phone booth for deep focus, there’s something designed for every type of interaction. The “patio” area along the window line extends the workplace, offering a refreshing change of scenery that supports both creativity and well-being.
Every material choice adds to the experience of the space. Polished concrete, wood flooring, and a mix of carpets create a sense of rhythm while also making it comfortable and easy to navigate. Divider screens and environmental graphics help define different areas, while a thoughtful balance of soft and reflective surfaces keeps the space feeling open yet acoustically comfortable.
With a design that blends technology, creativity, and local culture, IA has created an Austin office that feels both intuitive and inspiring—a domain designed to enhance the way employees experience and interact with the world around them.
