Tajín Think Hub – Zapopan
deFORMA Arquitectura’s Tajín Think Hub in Zapopan reimagines conventional office space into a fluid creative ecosystem that fosters collaboration, innovation, and well-being through adaptive design and vibrant aesthetics.
Tajín is a Mexican company founded in 1985 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, widely recognized for its iconic powdered seasoning—a blend of dried chiles, dehydrated lime, and sea salt that has become a global symbol of Mexican flavor innovation. For their new Research and Design division, the company sought a space that would break away from the constraints of a conventional office and instead cultivate creativity, cross-functional synergy, and a dynamic work culture.
Located in Corporativo Andares in Zapopan, Jalisco, the 205 m² TAJIN THINK Hub was conceived by deFORMA arquitectura as a fluid creative ecosystem. The project began with a core challenge: transforming an existing office shell while reusing as much infrastructure as possible to reduce waste and encourage responsible resource use. This required dissolving former partitions and reimagining the layout through an architectural strategy centered on openness, adaptability, and intuitive movement.
The heart of the design is the “Collaborative Forum,” envisioned as the primary arena for spontaneous exchanges and structured brainstorming. This space is anchored by a generously scaled, semicircular sofa-bar, accentuated by a bespoke suspended ceiling and a deliberate shift in floor materials that establish it as the project’s focal point. From this nucleus, the workspace unfolds in interconnected layers defined without visual obstruction.
To maintain continuity and flexibility, the design incorporates biophilic elements, sheer movable curtains, glazed partitions, and custom-made circular modular furniture. These elements enable rapid spatial transformations, supporting both group collaboration and quiet moments of individual focus. The result is a versatile environment that adapts to diverse workflows and working styles.
Color plays a central role as a creative catalyst. The chromatic palette subtly references Tajín’s institutional identity, while strategic lighting enhances circulation and reinforces the transitions between key zones. A notable example is the tunnel-like corridor leading from the entrance—conceived as a welcoming reception and social kitchen-bar—to the creative areas. A shift in tone and a continuous line of focused light heighten the experiential journey, marking the passage from the external corporate world into the immersive atmosphere of the TAJIN THINK Hub.
Beyond function, the project places wellbeing and human interaction at its core. By enhancing comfort, creativity, and cohesion, the design elevates daily life in the workplace and positions interior design as a strategic tool for organizational growth.
