Hot Black’s Business Hub at 150 Lonsdale Street in Melbourne redefines workplace dynamics with a flexible design that fosters collaboration, featuring bespoke elements like a unique marine rope ceiling and inviting social spaces.
Settled within the Wesley Place precinct, the Business Hub at 150 Lonsdale Street is an exemplified example of a third space as part of the Charter Hall rejuvenation project.
In a workplace setting whereby the need for flexibility is more important than ever before, the Business Hub acts as both a space for work and play – allowing tenants from the commercial building to overflow into the bookable meeting rooms, provide informal working points that cater to the transient nature of many roles and allows for events.
With its beautiful connection through to Lonsdale Street, flanked with a terrace that also has plug-in work points, Hot Black has capitalised on a palette that uses strong & robust materials such as stone and natural timbers to accentuate key features throughout. Custom curved bulkheads soften the meeting room connection within the wider space, and the petrol green inset carpet injects a contrasting level of personality.
In a space that craves excitement, the Hub is also an area that is designed for functions & gatherings, with all furniture & AV moveable to allow for a completely open and inviting hospitality experience. A large butler’s pantry is seamlessly hidden away to allow for catered events.
However, the real hero of the space lies above eye level. Hot Black partnered with local Melbourne artist, Sarah Parkes, to create a one-of-a-kind architectural feature ceiling that uses marine ropes and acts as an artwork installation. The rope piece hangs from our uniquely designed crossover steel structure which seamlessly incorporates lighting into the double height void & staircase from the lobby below.
From the open kitchen & bar to the custom ceiling, each design decision was a celebration of our key concept driver – weaving together different people within one common space at Wesley Place.
