Piedmont Healthcare Offices – Atlanta
Cooper Carry’s design for the Piedmont Healthcare offices in Atlanta creates a cohesive workplace that prioritizes employee wellness and collaboration while optimally utilizing existing materials and enhancing community connections.
Piedmont Healthcare’s corporate office leases were set to expire in 2025, igniting a vision to consolidate its offices into a single cohesive and collaborative workplace. Cooper Carry’s Programming + Predesign team conducted a study and developed the overall strategy for their new corporate office. Piedmont subsequently signed a lease in an existing class-A office tower in Atlantic Station, in Midtown Atlanta. Our team delivered interior and experiential graphic design services to bring this new office to life and enhance employee connections, health, and wellness.
As a non-profit healthcare system, Piedmont focused on a modern and professional environment without being lavish. Our team tailored the design to respond to their budget, change management concerns, and future aspirations. We considered product longevity, scrutinized material warranties, identified PFAS-free materials, and incorporated creative approaches to rejuvenate existing elements of the project.
Tasked with reusing as much of the preceding tenant buildout as possible, we salvaged glazing, doors, and hardware, and used architectural finishes to reface the existing dated wood to preserve the original millwork. Larger public common areas feature higher-end design elements, while a more muted approach was used for the employee work areas.
With Piedmont’s resource systems under one roof, cohesion emerged as a central design theme. Repeating patterns and layouts offer familiarity between floors, while woven materials symbolize collective support. Shared meeting rooms, collaboration zones, and coffee bars provide spaces for teams to build connections and trust, reinforcing Piedmont’s core values.
