Maccabi Health Services is renowned as one of the strongest and most influential institutions in Israel’s healthcare system. Its Northern District head office is located in the Haifa Life Sciences Park.

Maccabi underwent a revolution and decided to change the thinking style used in its organizational culture.

Management led the transition from closed offices to open- space, aiming to increase transparency and communication between employees. Closed offices were replaced by high, open workspaces with exposed ceilings, open spaces designed with a vivid palette of colors, wooden furniture, and fabric partitions – all creating the sense of a cozy home.

The office’s design concept relates to human health and its close ties with nature. The various motifs were expressed in the colorfulness of nature, and bare materials in their unprocessed form. Accordingly, the conference rooms are cladded with concrete tiles and rough wooden beams, with a recurring motif of a wall of recycled bricks in each seating area. The concrete ceiling remains exposed, and the systems are covered with natural tin. All the carpets in the rooms were designed specially for Maccabi, with organic patterns and textures.

The entrance lobby is designed with natural, elegant materials – concrete, wood, stone and unprocessed metal – visible from every perspective. The space has two seating areas, designed with curved lines that drew their inspiration from the Maccabi logo; they are used by guests and office employees as a waiting area and for informal meetings.

The cafeteria also functions as a kitchen for employees, and a meeting space for in-house events: it has the feeling of a cozy restaurant. Designed in rustic style, the kitchen’s bright color spread light into the space, and integrates with the natural materials. Along with wooden and rattan furniture, the seating booths are set within a green conservatory, allowing an “escape” from the interior to the outside.
