Gensler’s TikTok USDS offices in Bellevue redefine the workplace by merging nature-inspired design with innovative elements, creating an immersive environment that enhances employee well-being and productivity.
TikTok USDS has opened the doors to its new 40,000 square-foot Bellevue office—an immersive, nature-inspired space that redefines the modern workplace. What began as a standard renovation quickly transformed into a flagship destination in the company’s portfolio, designed to attract employees back to the office with a lush, sensory-rich environment that surprises and delights at every turn.
“Gensler’s recent Global Workplace Survey found that today’s workforce is demanding more autonomy over how they work,” said Bahar Afshar, Studio Director with Gensler. “Employees with a choice in where and how they work are 2.5x more likely to say their workplace supports both individual and team productivity. Employees in great workplaces are nearly 3x more likely to stay with their company, feel their contributions are valued, and believe their environment supports their growth. Additionally, 90% of employees who like their workspace say they’re proud to work for their company—compared to just 47% among those who feel disconnected from their environment.”
Blending the digital pulse of Seattle’s tech culture with the serene beauty of the Pacific Northwest, the office features natural wood tones, abundant greenery, and custom design elements—from a dramatic pink-glass staircase to calming wellness rooms and a back-lit reception that sets the tone for the space.
Tailored to a diverse, mostly Gen Z and Millennial workforce, the design champions both collaboration and quiet reflection. Ambient lighting, soft textures, and biophilic details create a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere that feels more like a destination than a duty. Local artist collaborations and regionally inspired graphics add authenticity and cultural connection.
“Collaborating with the Gensler team on this project was a powerful exercise in storytelling through design,” said Melbie Balam, Head of Enterprise Services with TikTok USDS. “Our goal was to create a workspace that authentically reflects the spirit of the Pacific Northwest — where natural greenery, local culture, and a strong sense of place shape the daily employee experience. From the lush foliage woven throughout the space to the warm, library-inspired coffee lounge, every detail was curated to foster connection and well-being. With sweeping 360-degree views of Mt. Rainier and the Seattle skyline, the space not only inspires — it has contributed to measurable improvements in employee satisfaction and productivity.”
