  • As a full-service, minority-owned advertising and marketing agency, West Cary Group envisioned a workplace that reflected its creativity, hospitality, and bold brand identity. Campfire & Co. was brought on to transform one of the agency’s main office buildings—reimagining the space to support large team gatherings, daily workflows, and a wide variety of collaboration styles, all within the constraints of the existing footprint.

The building, one of three interconnected spaces, previously lagged behind its counterparts in functionality, lighting, and cohesion. The layout was challenging, with an undersized conference room, a blocked-off kitchen, and an undefined arrival experience. Rather than start from scratch, the design team focused on enhancing flow, maximizing natural light, and creating moments of brand expression throughout.

The resulting space softens West Cary Group’s signature red with a material palette of sandy neutrals, soft whites, woven leathers, and multiple shades of blue—drawing inspiration from coastal hospitality environments to create a calm, welcoming atmosphere. Brand red is used with precision, appearing in custom lighting, powder-coated furniture details, and a tucked-away phone room fully drenched in red.

Original architectural elements like a tin ceiling and historic wood doors were preserved and paired with warm wood flooring and refined finishes to bridge the old and new. A new arrival lounge replaced the unused reception area, setting a more intentional and welcoming tone with hospitality-inspired details and improved wayfinding.

Throughout the space, flexibility and acoustic comfort were key. A mix of open work areas, private offices, huddle rooms, and phone booths now supports a variety of work styles. An operable glass wall allows the back zone to function as either a quiet workspace or an event-ready gathering spot. Acoustic baffles, textured wall panels, and intentional zoning strategies balance openness with privacy.

The kitchen was fully reconfigured with concealed appliances, increased storage, and a serene palette—now functioning as both an everyday amenity and a backdrop for events. Meanwhile, the expanded 12-person conference room is filled with daylight and integrated tech, reflecting the agency’s evolving needs.

Finishing touches include a custom CNC-routed wall texture in the main collaboration zone, a large-scale graphic map wall celebrating the local community, and custom furnishings that reflect West Cary Group’s attention to detail and strong visual identity.

From heads-down focus work to lively events, the finished space is highly adaptable, brand-forward, and rooted in hospitality. The new office reflects not only how West Cary Group works—but who they are.
