Lightspeed Research/GMI’s New Offices

  • Year 2013
  • Location Sydney, Australia,
  • Industry Manufacturing,
  • The Bold Collective has recently completed outfitting Lightspeed Research/GMI with a brand new office space for their Sydney operations.

“The project brief for the Lightspeed Research/GMI workplace was to break the convention of the typical office space and create a parallel world to the generic office lobby below. The client wanted a space that would excite employees and clients alike, reaffirming the quality of the Lightspeed Research/GMI brand as forward-thinkers. The space was to rival that of its sister WPP media agencies including Maxus, Mediacom, Mindshare, GroupM and TNS and offer a unique representation of Lightspeed as an individual within the WPP group.

The entrance acts as a portal to a relaxed space that is representative of the current trends of workplace functionality. It has been taken one step further by including elements that you would typically find at home. These elements include a recycled brick wall, graphics of posters plastered to the walls, warm colours and timbers to bring life to concrete floors, hanging plants, and a pool room equipped with photos of staff in an assortment of sports activities which all work together to offer an environment that staff can relate to and can comfortably work in as if they were at home.

The workplace functions sit in a humble arrangement on the floor plate and include open bench- style workstations, large communal breakout areas, a gaming space and an assortment of meeting rooms. The client and the team at Lightspeed couldn’t be happier with the final result, and the design won an award at the Sydney Design Awards 2013 within weeks of its completion! The new Lightspeed Research/GMI workplace demonstrates the importance of a good relationship and collaboration between the client, designer and builder.”
