  • SSDG Interiors has developed a new office design for Vancouver-based software development firm Clio.

Vancouver based legal firm software developer Clio, rapidly transitioned into one of Canada’s fastest-growing tech companies recently taking over 17,000 sf from IBM and needed a workspace equally ambitious and efficient. Their goals? To provide a bright and open space to showcase their internal culture to current and prospective employees.

Their concept? One part parents’ basement; one part high tech geek, with a touch of Vancouver thrown in on the side. A vintage arcade game zone with wood paneling and vinyl graphics; along with a foosball table, an acoustically sealed ping pong room, chalkboard walls, and an open kitchen with a family style table lend to an enlivened atmosphere utilized all day, not just during lunch hour. The soft seating area including a bean bag style chair and sofa provide a comfortable escape while the booth seating offers separation in an otherwise inclusive setting. Bold contrasting colors, locally sourced blown glass light fixtures, mural and live edge table help breathe new life into the big blue space. Floor to ceiling millwork in the kitchen and a multifunction planter for storage and spatial division were some of the ways we increased storage while still maintaining an open plan for collaboration and socializing.

The transformation to an inspiring workspace that is bright, professional and fun reinforced Clio’s playful and energetic culture; this was key for their talent to grow and flourish in their new space.
