    THE CHALLENGE
Cisco has continued to implement and modernize their campus, meeting the goals for the Cisco Connected Workplace (CCW). The specific challenge with floors 1, 2 and 3 of Building 13 was to both have its own identity and concurrently meet the objectives of the CCW program. The CCW provides for workstations that are not dedicated to specific employees. Groups of people are assigned to a “neighborhood” and within the neighborhood, they chose how they would like to work and where they want to sit.

    THE SOLUTION
The key was to design space that created several different sizes of flexible workspace types so employees pick the space most suited for their specific work needs of the day. The public areas were designed to provide a variety of informal, multi-functional spaces. Social zones are bright and energetic. Circulation has multiple functions, creating casual interaction. Corridors were broken up with seating, white boards and quiet niches. The café was opened up to incorporate open work space and social space within the design elements introduced into the environment.
