At Jackson Spalding, a multidisciplinary communications force in Midtown Atlanta, the open commerce and flow of ideas and information is vital to the success of their work. They needed a workspace that complemented the creative and collaborative nature of their brand and culture –a place where space is intentionally and thoughtfully partitioned to support the cross pollination of graphics, writing and public relations that make up their day-to-day efforts. tvsdesign was brought in to listen to and translate these ideas and needs into a living workspace that enhances and supports their business.

The primary concern in designing JS’s new headquarters was respecting and understanding their creative process. Our team saw that there are multiple components to the work done at JS—from the incubation of an idea to hosting and winning clients—that require public and more private spaces. Elements like huddle rooms, semi-open desk areas, and rooms for client meetings were carefully planned to suit the needs of employees and their clients alike.

The rich, warm woods of the lobby to the large windows with great city views create an openness that’s reflective of the culture at JS and pervades the new headquarters. Spaces were partitioned for filming, client media training, and photography. Extra conference rooms, a large kitchen, café and multiple quiet rooms for reflection and relaxation were also added to encourage Jackson Spalding team members to move around the office to collaborate and engage colleagues. Client work populates the walls to celebrate and showcase examples of tremendous creativity.

The redesigned office is now a home base for a wide variety of collaboration and a space where inspiration and great ideas can spark and catch fire. It’s an environment that moves out of the way and allows employees to create, foster, and celebrate ingenuity and compelling work.
