Akamai Offices – Milan
Unispace has developed a new workplace for content delivery network Akamai located in Milan, Italy. We recently saw their office in Paris.
The new Italian headquarters of Akamai Technologies is located on a single floor of a rationalist listed building strategically placed between the Cadorna Railway Station and Parco Sempione in Milano.
Both the building selection and interior design aimed to create an open and flexible workspace encouraging collaboration and informal communication. It reflects the corporate values which seek to foster a work environment that attracts, challenges, motivates and retains high calibre people.
Almost all workstations are open plan and feature an electric height adjustable system which plays an increasingly important role in wellbeing, enhancing flexibility, user control and ergonomic performance. High performance video systems and acoustic elements offer a seamless technology experience which is key for Akamai and their international clients.
Sixty percent of the usable floor comprises support spaces including flexible meeting rooms, comfortable phone booths, stand-up chat rooms and informal corners which open up to the circulation paths. Increasing flexibility and embedding elements of hospitality, one large meeting room can be merged with the pantry and adjacent corridor to host larger events.
Informal socialisation spaces are created via a games room with ping pong table and an area with low sofas, hanging chairs and wallpaper with relaxing green elements, bringing a feeling of home into the workplace.
Warm and creative finishes highlight the support spaces with multicolour hexagonal carpet flooring, oak wood for corridors and pantry, graphic wallpapers, acoustic textile wall mat and branding prints. Comfortable armchairs, low tables, custom joinery sofas, coloured furniture and accent lights help create an office not just for work but to actually enjoy working within.
