    THE CHALLENGE
This project for Symantec in Mountain View, a large internet security company, was a move for the company towards creating an environment that brings the brand and culture of Symantec to life. This aspect of employee engagement had been sorely lacking due to an existing interior environment that was neither engaging nor encouraging the true values of Symantec.

The client wanted a workspace the reflected the mission of the company, and emanated feelings of strength and protection – true to the brand. Emphasis was placed on fostering interactions and collaboration between employees and creating connections within the team on a global level. Ultimately, this resulted in an environment that fosters pride and excitement from those interacting in the space on a daily basis.

    THE SOLUTION
One major component of the project was the goal of sustainability, designed to both LEED and WELL Building standards. The Symantec headquarters will be among the first in Northern California to achieve Silver WELL Certification through Delos. The focus on employee health and wellbeing was central to the design effort and considered in every design decision. Employees are encouraged to experience movement throughout the space, increasing their overall health while simultaneously encouraging unexpected employee connections. The result is an exciting conglomeration of parts that express this focus on human and environmental sustainability.

The aesthetics are modern and sophisticated, while maintaining an element of quirkiness and the unexpected. Natural materials are emphasized and accented with strong pops of color and branding throughout. Unexpected touches in the lighting, furniture and accessories provide moments of curiosity for the end user. The overall environment is timeless, exciting, energizing and comfortable for employees and visitors alike.
