Financial Engines Offices – Overland Park

Clockwork Architecture + Design has designed the new offices of financial services company Financial Engines located in Overland Park, Kansas.

As a rapidly growing financial company, Financial Engines decided to trade in their current office space for one that catered towards a new corporate workplace model. The main goal for the company’s new headquarters; an open and collaborative environment that would support the company’s expansion plan as well as to help attract and retain talent in a competitive financial market.

To promote this new collaborative environment, a large communication staircase was designed to unite the fifth and sixth floors. Strategically located, all employees and visitors are directed to the grand staircase which serves as a gathering point and links the expansive café and socializing areas with the rest of the office. A large built-in bench was designed around the staircase to serve as a hub for company-wide ‘town hall’ meetings and events. Directly adjacent to the staircase is the generous cafe which encompasses a quarter of the entire fifth floor. The café serves as a multi-functional flexible space, including a variety of collaborative areas as well as socializing areas with the integration of beer taps and gaming tables.

With the utilization of an open office environment, a variety of alternative workstations and collaborative areas accommodate a wide range of workstyles. The centrally located conference and meeting rooms create a community hub throughout the office, further promoting cross-collaboration among staff capitalize on the natural daylight. A majority of the private offices and meeting rooms were pulled into the building’s core allowing all open workstations and large corridors to receive daylight.
