  • Website-builder and hosting service company Jimdo has recently moved into a new office space in Hamburg, Germany. Design was completed by an in-house team.

Jimdo was founded in 2007 by Christian Springub, Fridtjof Detzner, and Matthias Henze. The three founders set up base in Hamburg Bahrenfeld, in what used to be a margarine factory. The team started on the top floor (5th floor) of the Klinkerstein building with more of a flat-share feel—consisting of a large open office, a kitchen with a coffee machine, and a balcony. Through the years Jimdo has grown and gradually worked its way down, floor by floor, knocking down walls, and creating partitions and stairways.

In second half of 2016, Jimdo arrived at the ground floor of Stresemannstrasse 375 with the opening of the new reception area, an open service area for all Jimdo users, and the larger and brighter rooms of the Jimdo employee restaurant “ChezSam”.

All floors are individually designed in a “Jimdo Style” and offer space for a healthy work environment that encourages well-being, communication, and intellectual exchange but also provides space for rest and retreat. Jimdo is not made of individual offices—the paths to colleagues are short and open.

    Concept:

    • Open / semi-open space concept for good communication and active co-existence
    • Areas embody a colorful blend of Jimdo (internationalism, style, colors, furniture …)
    • A mix of workspaces, open space areas, meeting points, and retreats for personal conversations
    • Professional, flexible jobs
    • Space for individuality—personal belongings, pictures, photos, storage …

Due to our growth, the expansion of workrooms is an ever-present topic. The concept and design of new premises is completely managed by internal Jimdo colleagues.
