Archer Foundation Offices – Kansas City
Clockwork Architecture + Design has designed the new offices of non-profit organization Archer Foundation, located in Kansas City, Missouri.
One of the core pillars of the Archer Foundation is the development and mentoring of entrepreneurs and technology startups. The space needed to be an effective recruiting and teaching tool all in one. The design of the space was modeled after the various stages of a startup company from the coffee shop and kitchen table to launch and attraction of seed capitol.
As the startups are constantly moving and growing the space needed to be flexible. The majority of the walls were a mobile wall product called DIRTT. In addition to the flexibility the walls were covered with a back-painted glass to allow for the persistent display of information. The layout of the space was based around the 4 principle work modes of today’s workplace;
Socialize, Focus, Collaborate and Learn.Socialize: A communal farm table made from recycled wood was located near the break room to spark conversations.
Focus: To support an energetic open work space it is important to include quiet ‘heads-down’ rooms to provide a space for the development of intellectual capitol.
Collaborate: Storage was hidden in bar height ‘work benches’ located along circulation spaces. This created a shared space directly adjacent to workstations for sharing ideas.
Learn: The large training room near the lobby not only provides open flexible space for events but also a place to satisfy the ever vigilant quest for knowledge.
