Geneva Trading Offices – Chicago
Earles Architects and Associates have designed the new offices of principal trading firm Geneva Trading, located in Chicago, Illinois.
Geneva Trading, a fast-growing global principal trading firm, needed to consolidate three Chicago offices into one. The eighteenth floor of the 190 South LaSalle building was designed to meet that need and create a cohesive flow of space for the company’s various departments. The new 25,000 SF office includes two trading floors, space for the company’s IT functions, and a pub-style lounge that ties into the firm’s office in Dublin, Ireland.
Geneva Trading’s office was designed to reflect the feel during the second industrial revolution. Contemporary technologies reflect the evolving nature of the trading industry, while details and finishes recall the history of design prevalent in the early days of trading. The space features open ceilings, warm wood tones, polished concrete floors and a mix of gray and blue décor.
Old and new materials are used in innovative ways to accentuate the space’s urban loft style. Old materials, such as brick, concrete, butcher blocks, and cable trays, are reused in new ways that give them modern dignity and grace. More modern materials include ceiling clouds, bamboo panels, and LED tape light. The reception area features a custom desk that unifies the space through the use of concrete, wood and metal.
