  • align designed the offices of airline company Cathay Pacific, located in London, England.

A subtle and elegant suite of offices to serve as the UK HQ for airline giant Cathay Pacific. After fourteen years of occupancy, the company’s previous offices no longer fitted the company’s needs and the opportunity to move represented a catalyst for workplace culture change, as well as offering the possibility to integrate the company’s brand design values and ethos from the outset.

One of the most important aspects of this change was the promotion of a greater sense of togetherness and communality, helping move the workforce on from separated departments and rather formal meeting rooms to a connected and flowing series of spaces, comprised of open-plan offices, a retained smaller number of private offices for key discretionary areas such as finance and HR, along with breakout spaces and meeting rooms with varying degrees of formality and informality.

The company design ethos is ‘softly spoken, strongly felt’, which pointed towards a language of tasteful, warm and considered sensory experiences, delivered with respectful grace and heartfelt hospitality. For align, it was important to ensure colours and fabrics used embodied a quiet and dignified ethos with a neutral palette that offered differentiation through tonality and materials. The advice of a Feng Shui expert was also sought, referencing the company’s Far Eastern cultural and business roots.
