  • Francis Cauffman designed the showroom for glass partition company Muraflex, located in Chicago, Illinois.

When Muraflex successfully leased space for their new showroom in the Chicago Merchandise Mart, there were less than 13 weeks to NeoCon. To meet this tight deadline for design, permitting and construction, Francis Cauffman held a 2-day design charrette with Muraflex. The program involved creating a space that displayed the range of their products, in an office setting. It was necessary to have the “wow factor” to actively engage the large crowds at NeoCon, while also acting as their working showroom for the remaining 360 days. Highlighting the entry is a small informal meeting room, with red glass, which provides some visual privacy, while acting as a beacon along the access corridor to multiple showrooms.

One enters the showroom into an open gathering space, surrounded by different enclosed spaces that highlight various Muraflex products and glass front systems. Visitors are further drawn to the rear of the space, where there is the bistro/bar which is the social hub of the showroom. The artwork in the showroom is based on different Muraflex product components. The result is a showroom where potential clients can experience in situ the benefits and value of the Muraflex range of products.
