  • MPPM Studio have designed the refurbishment for the offices of Mercedes Benz Italia located in Rome, Italy.

The project consists in an overall transformation of the existing MBI campus, that was originally structured in six distinct buildings, connected with upper footbridges. The new construction consists in a single four-story building characterized by a square courtyard plan and an underground parking. Projectual definition’s parameters are mostly linked with the need to create a unique compact system, both in terms of appearance and in management, energy efficient and arranged in open work spaces extremely functional.

The surrounding area of the new building is aimed at parking space, green areas and exhibition spaces on the north side of the building. Planning the new MBI Campus working spaces, specific attention was paid to the flexibility and modularity topics, as well as to optimize the use of connecting spaces.

The main entrance is located on the west side of the building, which is highlighted by an overhanging volume from the facade, which leads to the large double height ceiling hall. On the ground floor many different functions are set to service the entire building, and paths are well-recognized to guarantee the best use for employees and guests.

Straight from the rear of the hall there is access, through a reserved passage, to the meeting rooms area which is laid around a little inner garden. Other rooms are allocated for specific offices, classrooms for training activities and restrooms. The company restaurant (indoor and outdoor) is located on the south side and is directly connected to the kitchen and ancillary spaces which are on the west side and have a separate entrance for authorized personnel and incoming goods.

Upper levels are entirely dedicated to working spaces, with ancillary spaces, lounge areas, think-tank rooms, smaller meeting rooms, wardrobes, etc. Restrooms are situated on the four blind wall corners of the building which have pulled side by side technical rooms and main shafts too, in order to assure a reasonable allocation of installations, without any wasted space.
