Take-Two Interactive, a global leader in publishing the most innovative, creative and pioneering video games in the industry, chose Design Republic to help make their move to a 60,000 square foot office in midtown as smooth and seamless as possible. The strong presence of the Take 2 culture was apparent through its sophisticated, creative, and dynamic employees. Just as Take 2’s labels, Rockstar and 2K, represent a wide range of gaming genres to appeal to every individual, it was crucial that their new Midtown Headquarters met the needs of each employee.

This all-encompassing vision was achieved by creating a sleek design emphasizing the architectural elements that made the space so unique. Taking cues from the high ceilings, the use of strong verticality is introduced from the start. Upon entry, the lobby features a powerful AV tryptic that displays the latest T2 content. Concrete panels on the surrounding walls continue the rhythmic linear quality and guide the eye up the escalator to the workspace. This vertical integration is found not only in the lobby but throughout the space in the form of wood, plaster and fabric. Once on the second floor, employees are met with a monolithic concrete stair that penetrates the space and sets the backdrop for a gaming area, pantry and terrace. This space is one of the many flexible areas that serve multiple purposes. By day employees can play the latest T2 games and by night the space can be transformed into the prefect location for a launch party.

It was also vital to ease the employee’s transition from their exposed, raw Soho office to 1133 6th Ave. This was achieved by fusing the creative culture of downtown with the polished sophistication of midtown, exposing architectural elements and complimenting them with curated gallery-like moments. The sophistication of clean, crisp design elements juxtaposed with the exposed columns and concrete panels represent not only the brand but its employees.
