Grubhub Offices – Chicago
Shive-Hattery recently completed the offices for online food delivery service Grubhub, located in Chicago, Illinois.
Grubhub has grown to become the nation’s leading online and mobile food ordering platform. With success comes rapid growth, which the Chicago headquarters accommodates. The Burnham Center at 111 W. Washington Street serves as home to Grubhub’s flagship space – a unique workplace that reinforces the company’s culture and supports attracting talented team members to join the fun.
Grubhub’s world revolves around food, so we created a metaphorical hearth to their home which includes a large multipurpose town hall space that serves as a kitchen, collaboration space, and activity area for all hands meetings or the occasional wing eating contest. The addition of an internal research restaurant named “Slice” allows new products to be tested, while the game room, bar, and private roof deck provide spaces for employees to step away from their desks to work or relax. The interior solution integrated functional and creative environmental graphic design elements throughout that reflect Grubhub’s brand and engage their employees.
The Burnham Center (originally the Conway Building) was the last building designed by Daniel Burnham prior to his passing and he was never able to see the final product. Grubhub’s commitment to the new and renovated space continues to contribute to the vitality of this historic landmark building.
