SAP Innovation Center Offices – Potsdam
SCOPE Architekten GmbH completed the design for the SAP Innovation Center located in Potsdam, Germany.
The SAP Innovation Center offers a creative working environment, which supports open thinking to promote the development of client-oriented solutions on the basis of progressive technologies. The unconventional design refers to the start-up character of young software companies.
The building situated at the “Jungfernsee“, offers on 4500 square meters, 100 employees and 200 students a creative working environment promoting an innovative and efficient cooperation between client, researchers and students.
The two upper levels of the new three-story building are divided in four areas. 30 employees at a time can have direct access to every function of daily life because of an open floor plan. The requirement of changing the composition of teams in a quick and easy way have been achieved through a mobile workplace concept. Rail guided whiteboards can divide the areas, allow different configurations of the workplaces and optimize the room acoustic additionally.
Mobility and flexibility are the principles for the workplace design. Around the central situated and open designed development are different areas of communication arranged, which can serve as meeting points, zones for breaks and also for work in an informal setting. Alongside a staff restaurant with openness to the surrounding landscape, the ground floor offers different meeting rooms as well as a project area for “Design Thinking“. The choice of ground screed floors, fair-faced concrete, natural wood and visible installation should consciously give the impression of workshops and refers to the beginning of software development.
The building control system of extensive marking and typographies facilitates the orientation and supports the industrial overall picture. With its unconventional as well as inspiring design, the Innovation Center Potsdam meets the requirements of a creative workshop for forward looking and interdisciplinary software development.
