Microsoft relocated their Sales Office, Customer Center and Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) to Avalon in Alpharetta to put their employees and customers in the heart of Alpharetta’s newest bustling retail and hospitality center. They now have access to the hottest shops, restaurants, bars and hotels, just steps from their front door.

To match the community and social spirit outside, the interior, open environment allows for casual interaction between employees and customers. ai3 created a high-end, residential aesthetic welcoming employees and customers alike with the warmth of Atlanta’s famous southern hospitality. Fireplaces, bar islands, unique lounges and even outdoor terraces are located throughout, offering abundant daylight and views to the activities below. Acoustically sensitive, full-connectivity conference rooms with Microsoft’s state-of-the-art Surface Hub (computer touch-screen), a technology-driven Training Room and 150 person Multi-purpose Room (MPR), all provide a functional and elevated work experience.

Employees are treated to their choice of sit-stand workstations, Skype-ready Focus Rooms, activity-inspired Conference Rooms and their own in-house Coffeehouse to work as they need.

Through materiality, graphics, and architecture, the design of the space is inspired by the outdoor activities that make Atlanta a unique and special place. Emulating shadows cast by the abundant tree canopy over the city, light is filtered throughout, evoking a fresh Spring day in the south. Layered in the connection of spaces, the warm and welcoming concept of southern hospitality is emphasized as guests are encouraged to interact around every corner of Microsoft’s new home.
