The U.S. Soccer Foundation’s mission is to promote, enhance, and grow the sport of soccer across the United States with an emphasis to foster youth development in underserved communities.

Together, U.S. Soccer and FORM Architects conceptualized a built environment that embraces the foundation’s powerful mission using the iconography of soccer, the urban fabric of the communities they serve, and most importantly, the kids.

Upon entering the space, you are instantly connected to images of the many children who are impacted most through U.S. Soccer’s outreach. The space was designed to reflect the veracity of those underserved communities through authentic materials, graffiti wall graphics, and viewing corridors that pull DC’s urban environment within. Super graphics of children playing soccer with mentors are found throughout the space serving as a continuous source of inspiration. The main feature is an interactive soccer ball installation that defines both the reception and conference room beyond. The soccer balls can be signed by inspirational figures in the soccer community and then be auctioned off to help provide financial support & awareness towards the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s mission. This revolving installation is a tangible experience of interchanging soccer balls with varying designs & signatures.

Inspired by the youth they aim to serve; the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s design is a playful reflection of the sport of soccer. The space has an undeniable energy and an urban aesthetic derived from tectonic materiality and colorful, super graphics.
