  • Gensler was engaged by Tribune Media, television broadcasting giant, to design their new offices located in Chicago, Illinois.

Tribune Media, one of the largest television broadcasting companies in the US, came to Gensler to design their new headquarters as a place that centered around their employees, connected to their Chicago roots, and looked forward to the future of the company. This was all for good reason, as this move signified Tribune Media’s departure from the historic Tribune Tower and into an office that would be built around their current dynamic working model and, for the first time, bring all of their media stations employees into one space. With two continuous floors and 38,500sf of connected workspace, Tribune Media’s new location is in a modern Miesian building (303 East Wacker) that contrasts the Tribune Tower yet pays tribute to the progress that Chicago has always embraced. Tribune Media’s new office celebrates this same progress as they have not only built upon their history, but taken a giant step into their future as well.

The concept of Tribune Media’s Office was driven by three elements that embody their overall project goals in a progressive manner: 1. Chicago Roots (past), 2. We are Storytellers (present), 3. Moving Forward (future). From these three elements the Spatial Experience of the office and the Design Implications they represent were developed into the office space. A floor plan which maps this experience onto the various corridors and areas of the project was created, this ultimately drove the direction of the Interior Design, Finishes, and Branding.
