Hyatt Offices – Hong Kong

A workspace comprised of smaller "neighborhood" teams with transient collaboration spaces in between, Hyatt's Hong Kong offices move away from a traditional layout and embrace the flexible work styles of the present and future.

  • M Moser Associates was tasked to design two workplaces in Asian metropolises for Hyatt, the first in Hong Kong, and the second located in Shanghai, China.

For over 60 years, Hyatt has delivered unforgettable hospitality experiences for its guests. It has thrived on the philosophy that the user journey extends beyond a simple greeting, creating impactful environments that exceed expectations and foster meaningful connections.

Addressing Hyatt’s growing business needs across the Asia-Pacific and Greater China regions, M Moser was selected to design two offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai that would capture the essence of Hyatt’s hospitality for its people while bringing the distinct identity of each location to life using unique design concepts.

Hyatt’s Hong Kong office adopts a structured floor plan across which all departments operate as individual neighbourhoods separated by transient collaborative spaces. Personalised with unique furniture configurations and a microclimate that enhances flexibility within designated areas, each neighbourhood then becomes an empowering environment that solidifies internal culture.

Set amid fully-agile workspaces, an “anchor” person is assigned a fixed desk in every department to act as a resourceful point of contact for their respective teams. With more than half of their staff previously situated in enclosed offices, this new layout brings radical, transformative changes to how people interact and work with one another.

Moving away from an old layout that prioritised individual desks, all neighbourhoods are now champions of the “home away from home” design concept, empowering team members to add or change furniture based on individual preferences and needs.

Each department is designed to accommodate future team growth and facilitates a transformative shift of perception. The desk is no longer seen as a single possession, but rather as a symbol of synergy and a valuable “currency of connections.”

M Moser’s collaboration with Hyatt has yielded exemplary spaces that enrich comfort, agility and wellness while narrating a consistent brand journey to staff and visitors. Distinct in their own individual ways, the new Hong Kong and Shanghai hubs are set to attract dynamic talent, breed innovative ideas and maximise productivity to support Hyatt’s future business success.
