Akamai Offices – San José
Lacayo Arquitectos has created a design to unite Akamai‘s two separate office locations under one roof in San José, Costa Rice.
In Costa Rica, Akamai had split operations in two different locations, by moving to a new building the company wanted to bring together both into one big accommodation. That would include all the commodities their employees needed to work comfortable and satisfied.
It was important to refresh the image while maintaining aspects of their own culture, to allow them to feel easily identified in the new space.
Something that caught our attention from the beginning was the space appropriation the users had had in the previous offices. Where every single space was occupied by a superhero toy, Star Wars poster or cartoon book. This tech culture mixed with the local tropical vibe inspired the whole look and feel of the new offices.
The colorful transformations of the carpet reflect the playful character of the employees. The white canvas of the walls, and the custom lighting that travels across the layout are conceptualizations of the Fast Forward spirit of the company. The combination of amenities echoes the sense of wellness and community of the organization.
