  • Concept Commercial Interiors has developed a new office design concept for Roberts Day, an integrated planning and design company located in Melbourne, Australia.

The exciting urban design company, Roberts Day approached Concept Commercial Interiors to design and build their new workspace. Relocating from a small outgrown office it was the perfect opportunity to realign themselves with the vision and direction of their national company. Concept Commercial Interiors translated this direction for their new workspace in the beautiful historic building at 411 Collins Street in Melbourne city.

The Roberts Day workplace has been designed to respond to the surrounding Melbourne urban design palette and aesthetic, which clearly distinguishes it from their other national office locations.

Subtle design elements capture the city’s grittiness which is juxtaposed by the softer palette nature offers. The exposed ceiling, timber flooring and strong steel glass panelling are softened by the ambient lighting, bright furniture items rugs among a biophilic setting.

Clients are welcomed off the elevator into a flexible communal space that showcases the personality of the business. The new workspace evokes a sense of community just as urban design does.

The entrance is adaptable with many features that offer agile solutions and allow Roberts Day to create the style of space required on an as needed basis. With a library lounge in the sun, a boardroom, reception desk, these spaces can work together to create a shared environment that supports; functions, townhall meetings and various styles of presentations.

The multipurpose peg board in the entrance is utilized daily as vertical bike storage, which conveys the sustainable desire the employees who work for this forward-thinking Urban Design company have. The bikes which are hung on oversized dowels can be removed and repositioned during events and functions to hang presentation boards to showcase their latest projects.

Importantly the space provides a variety of different working spaces, from collaborative areas with writable walls to zones that support concentrated team working, away from the traditional work points.
